Two of James Michael Curley’s children die on the same day at the same place.

Both Mary Curley Donnelly, 41 and Leo Curley, 36, suffer fatal cerebral hemorrhages while talking on the telephone in Mary Curley’s apartment at 102 Beacon Street. Their joint funeral is held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross a few days later. Archbishop Richard Cushing delivers the eulogy at the service and some 50,000 people line the route of the funeral procession.
